| Who we are .... |

We are a group of people who feel blessed with what we have and are fortunate enough to be in a position to help others. We have found a couple of areas in which we are able to help, and are enjoying being able to help in some small way those who need our help. We started with No Hair Day Chemo Caps inspired by Head Huggers (www.headhuggers.org) and have enjoyed making stylish, comfortable caps for those who have lost their hair through chemotherapy or radiotherapy. A donation of wool by Regional Cancer Services, a local hard-working group who support many cancer-related projects, has helped offset some of the costs of yarn for this project. Then one warm night I suddenly realised how good my life is and how there are others, even in my local community, who would not be so warm through winter. So through our local Uniting Church who run a Soup Kitchen for those who need assistance, we have made and donated a number of blankets for those who might otherwise have been a little colder through winter. A notice in the newsletter of the church brought in generous donations of acrylic yarn to help us continue to provide more blankets. The next project using all the little leftovers that we can't use elsewhere will be soon used to knit blankets to donate to the RSPA. |

If you knit, crochet, sew do tricot or any other suitable crafting, contact me about joining our band of happy workers. If you don't feel you can help on the crafting side, but are able to donate (or collect donations of) yarn, unused stamps and post packs (to help with postage), or finding sponsors to help us purchase more supplies please contact me. If you are already involved with a chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment centre, ask if they would like to receive some donations of hats and contact me with details of the centre and numbers of hats required. If you are involved with an organisation that needs blankets, please contact me with details. |
